T of N (ewburgh) Building Permits Stink!!

So we received our first of who knows how many "rejections" or "need to do this..." letters for the building permit the other day. We now have to contact the surveyor again and have him re plot the house, with a porch and deck...they are on the blueprint so what is the difference?!? We also have to decide which set of stairs going to the attic on the blueprint we are using; that's a no brainer because we have a walk-up attic....it wouldn't be the pull down stairs. And what is the big deal if the paperwork doesn't say "insulated door" leading to attic...I thought you didn't know which stairway we were using. So now we have a delay...I just hope we have a foundation by the time I go back to school. I would love to have Christmas in our new house.

The lot is clear!

Yeah the lot has finally been cleared!! The guys worked yesterday in the rain all day to get it done. I love that I can actually see our property and start to imagine where the house will be and what it will look like. I am excited to have a back yard for the kids to play in and a small neighborhood. The next wait is for the building permit...............

The driveway looking in..

Halfway in the lot looking out to the road..

Nothing is going on...

I am growing impatient because the lot has not been cleared yet. I know we have time but I am anxious to see what it looks like without being overgrown and full of tress. Maybe, just maybe the Town of Newburgh won't take 4-5 weeks to get us our building permit and I want to be ready to dig the foundation. I stop by every so often and just look around, imagining what it will look like. The neighbors must think I'm crazy, or stalking the neighborhood. I am excited for the kids though because there seems to be little ones next door for Manny and girls down the road for Taina.

We finally own the land!

We finally closed on the property Tuesday!! Our next step is to clear the lot and see what we have. From there we will stake out the house and wait for the building permit (that could take a month or so). It has been such a long road after looking at a zillion houses for the past 2 years and none of them worth our time. We also have been living with my parents (thank you) for the past year after selling our condo. I hope we are in our new house by Christmas!!
