Trim work and cabinet doors

I finally got up to the house after what seems like a long time of not getting there. Mom had cleaned up the garage so that looks awesome. Dad put the cabinet doors on and I love the fact that Little Manny can't slam the doors or drawers (we have stoppers). Appliances are being delivered tomorrow. Manny has puttied up all the nail holes in the trim work and Mom painted the doorway trim. The three of them got so much done this weekend. What was I doing you ask? Taking care of a newborn, fighting with the two year old to take his nebulizer treatments, wrestling with the 2 yo to stay out of the fridge and helping the 8 year old put on makeup. (Yes I did clean and do other things as well). I think we were all kept busy, they just had more peace than I did!!

Mom and Dad are up at the house working today. Dad has finished laying the tile in the kitchen and Mom is painting the baseboard trim. I really wish I could be up there doing something, but I can't stand for that long and I can't be around the smell of the paint. Tomorrow Manny will go up and take the hinges off the doors and putty up the nail holes in the door frames, then they can be painted.

Last night Manny, Lil Manny and I went to Lowes yet again. I think this is like 17+ visits in the past 3 weeks. We went to order our appliances, but the guy called in sick so we'll go back another day when he is working (this way he gets his commission). While walking through Lowes Lil Manny tells me he has to go potty. So we head to the bathrooms and as we get there he says, "no go potty, go get cookies." Now the little stinker tricked me because he knows the employee lounge is next to the bathrooms and he wanted cookies. Yes, I told you we've been at this store quite often!! I have bought him snacks there plenty of times; just so we could get our shopping/browsing done. What a smart little cookie I have!! I did cave and get him M&M's and we got out of the store without a peep out of him!!

Floors

The floors have been sanded and 2 coats of sealer put on. Dad is almost done laying the tile in the kitchen. Everything is soooo dusty from them sanding the floors; the walls included. It was so exciting to walk through the house and see it getting closer and closer to completion. I sat there imagining what it will be like to live there. Remember, we haven't had a house of our own for 18 months now; that's a long time!!

I tried to get a good picture of the tile in the kitchen but everything is so dusty

Cabinets and grout

Dad has been busy working at the house. Yesterday he hung up all of the wall cabinets in the kitchen and placed all the base cabinets where they need to go. The pantry is in place and everything looks awesome!! Today he grouted the master bath and the kids bath. We have to order our sink so the granite guy can get to work on the counter tops. All of the inside doors will be delivered on Tuesday and we'll have hardwood floors on Tuesday. We still have so much to order (or so it seems). We have to pick out hardware for the kitchen cabinets, faucets (narrow down our choices), appliances, door handles, trim and molding...I probably left something out.

We are getting close to a move in date and it is all so exciting. We owe Dad a trip to where ever he wants to go for as long as he wants to go when this is all done. He has helped us so much with knowledge besides all of the hard work he puts in everyday. Sometimes I think he likes to "escape" to the house to do things. Little Manny thinks it's Pop Pop's house being that he is ALWAYS there! Little Manny is going to have a rough transition moving to the new house because he has gotten so attached to my parents, especially Pop while living here. I hope Pop will come up and visit him often, or else we'll be here and it'll be like we never left!!

Heat and lights

This week has been a productive week. We now have heat in the house upstairs and Dad is working on the radiant heat downstairs. There is a leak somewhere in one of the hoses so he has to pin point it and then break up the cement floor to fix it. It won't make a difference that he has to do this to the floor because he'll pour new cement and it will be covered by tile. The electrician came yesterday and put in all of the light fixtures upstairs as well as the outlets and light switches. I stopped up there last night and it was awesome to go in each room and see the lights at night!! I'm assuming he'll be back today to finish up downstairs and outside lights. Our kitchen cabinets were delivered Wednesday. Dad is putting down the sub floor and then he'll put on/up the cabinets then tile. Hardwood floors are going down Tuesday. There is still so much finishing work to do, and it all falls on Dad. Tile has to be put in all of downstairs, the kitchen and two more bathrooms (he did the master already). The kitchen cabinets need to go in and all of the molding/trim work has to be done. We are so thankful for my father and how he has done SO much in our house!!!!
